What do the Right sidebar ads mean?

Well, we like to support our sister blogs across the network. We also like to help you the reader find cool new blogs on Tumblr to follow. It can also help blogs build up an audience. We created all of the ads in house and do it simply because we think it is a way to give something back to the blogs and readers that help support us. These ads are and always will be 100% free. We don’t really care about competition. We do care a lot about doing the right thing though. 

How can I get an ad on your network? 

#1. Have an awesome blog. If you do nothing but reblog and never make an original post you are an aggregate. You aren’t really a source for anything. We try to help out blogs who try to find content. Also be sure to credit an artist. Finding cool images is one thing, but actually taking the time to give them credit and maybe a link… that takes effort. We try to reward that. Finally, don’t make 20 posts in 2 minutes. There is a lot of awesome content to be found on Tumblr. When I follow someone that squirts out a ton of posts all at once, I hit the unfollow button at the speed of light. Pace your content. I promise you that the audience will appreciate it more. 

#2. Have a good layout. Don’t have crumby auto-play music and a ton of javascript garbage covering the screen. Have simple navigation so that people can find things easily. 

#3. Don’t reblog 9Gag. Seriously, this might sound silly, but all 9Gag does is steal content from hard working artists. They also watermark over someone else’s work. This is the lowest of the low and sites like this need to die. 

#4. Be an amazing artist. This one is tough. I think you can drink a magic potion and this happens overnight. I read it on the internet so it must be true. 

#5. Supporting us doesn’t hurt. Our staff often finds new blogs by checking out those who reblog us and ‘like our posts. We really do pay attention to the people that support us.
